A Bird in Shit

A little bird was flying south for the winter when, suddenly, a snowstorm caught him by surprise. The snow fell and the wind blew, and the bird soon fell to the ground, freezing. While he was lying there, a cow came by and left a pile of dung on him. As the frozen bird laid there in the pile of cow dung, its heat slowly began to thaw him out. He began to sing for joy as he realized he was warming up. Much to his misfortune, his joyful song was so loud that it caught the attention of a passing cat. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story

1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend
3. When you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

The Mirror

A young man by the river
Gazes longingly at his reflection
A young woman at her vanity
Has her own undivided attention

And the young writer with his pen
Is both of these, twice over again
